WELLINGTON (Reuters) – New Zealand’s Shopper Value Index (CPI) rose to its highest in over a decade within the third quarter, beating expectations, in response to information launched by Statistics New Zealand on Monday.
CPI rose 2.2% within the quarter ending September from 1.3% within the second quarter, the most important quarterly motion since a 2.3percentrise within the December 2010 quarter.
Annual inflation rose 4.9% in comparison with 3.3% within the earlier quarter.
Economists polled by Reuters had forecast an increase of 1.4% for the quarter, with an annual rise of 4.1%.
