Agricultural and processed meals exports up 21.8% in April-August: Govt

The federal government on Tuesday mentioned India’s export of agricultural and processed food merchandise rose 21.8% on yr in April-August with rice, recent fruit and greens and cereals exhibiting development.

The exports of merchandise below the ambit of the Agricultural and Processed Meals Merchandise Export Improvement Authority (APEDA) have been $7.9 billion within the first 5 months of the fiscal as towards $6.4 billion a yr in the past, the commerce and industry ministry mentioned in a press release.

Rice exports elevated 13.7% to $3.8 billion from $3.3 billion a yr in the past.

Outbound shipments of recent fruits & greens registered a 6.1% rise whereas these of processed meals merchandise like cereals preparations grew 41.9%.

“India reported a big 142.1% bounce in export of different cereals whereas the export of meat, dairy & poultry merchandise witnessed a rise 31.1% within the first 5 months of the present fiscal,” the ministry mentioned.

The export of different cereals elevated to $379 million from $157 million in April-August 2020-21 whereas that of meat, dairy and poultry merchandise rose to $1.5 billion from $1.1 billion.

The cashew export witnessed a development of 28.5% in April-August 2021 at $185 million from $144 million within the corresponding interval of final yr, in response to the assertion.
