(CNN) — A resort in Germany has launched an investigation and suspended staff after musician Gil Ofarim, who’s Jewish, alleged he was discriminated towards on Monday as a result of he was prominently carrying a Star of David necklace.
The Westin Resort has launched an investigation into the incident, the overall supervisor of the Leipzig location, Andreas Hachmeister, instructed CNN in an e-mail.
“We’re fearful about this report and take the incident very significantly,” Hachmeister stated. “Our aim is to combine, assist and respect all our friends and staff regardless of which faith they imagine in. The staff involved have been suspended and we’ll make clear the problem with out compromises. We’re a cosmopolitan, worldwide resort and reject all form of discrimination.”
Ofarim’s supervisor, Yvonne Probst, stated in a press release, “Gil was nonetheless visibly shocked at present as he has to deal with yesterday’s incident in Leipzig.”
Josef Schuster, president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, stated on Twitter “the antisemitic hostility towards Gil Ofarim is stunning.”
